A Million Dollar Horse…

…is one who saves your butt. Actually, he’s priceless. Meyerhoff also demonstrates the importance of practicing without stirrups (a bit of an understatement). He has commented on this ride (see text comments) saying “This was his first Intermediate horse trial. He was more than ready. And I was quite confident he could do it. What I think happened was the horses cantered up the hill then when it was time to take off they then saw what was on the other side which caused a green horse to hesitate and loose their focus. Smooth Rider aka Odin saved us both. The rider in front of us fell and others before had problems. The fence was then removed. He got lots of cookies and kisses when we got home.” For more of the XC portion of the Middleburg Horse Trials click here: www.youtube.com More info about this sport can be found here: www.useventing.com and the music can be found here www.youtube.com

great lower leg position, but he was very lucky the landing was on a down slope or the horse would have been unable to recover – it would have been a nasty rotational fall.

@horserider9802 thats not the truth and how is the rider a bad rider what do u think she could of done to make things better i mean gosh dam, the horse accidentally almost fell causing him to almost fall then there was like a jump right there coming down the hill leaving the rider no time to fix them self, and she was more concentrating on getting the horse over the next sets of jumps safely instead of worrying about herself she rode amazing! and no stirrups as well, which makes her even better

@ilovepreciousjim2 true, true. it’s just my opinion. i think that the rider should have also worried about her position. she could have fallen off, which im sure she almost did :P sorry :(

thats why in horseback, you are taught leg strength- because your horse might just save you, but your stirrups wont

    BTW, the rider is a him/he. ;)
Bad moment, a little luck, great riding, great horse.
I’ve seen some of the biggest names have bad moments. It happens, nothing is a given in the horse sports.
Love some of the silly armchair expert comments since the last time I posted.
