Coco Dressage Practise in the Arena 2007
The test is BD Preliminary 7 2002, I know it’s not perfect, so any constructive criticism will be greatly appreciated, but please don’t be rude
ooo and I know my sister’s videoing leaves a little to be desired, but she’s all I have unless my mum’s available, sorry. :p #89 – Most Discussed (This Week) – Pets & Animals – All
Dressage Arena
thats really great! Coco has lovely paces and hes a big horsey it cant be easy to get him going so beautifully! a great finish too.
I have a question… the camera was shaking a little at the end so i couldnt really see lol… but at the end of a dressage test, do you just nod your head and smile?
xxx
thank you :p you don’t know how much work it’s taken to get here, I’m so proud of him. And in her defence, I did ask her to give me some pointers, so she not doing it be mean. :p and yeah, his tail had been washed the day before so it looked all curley in this.
thanks for the lovely comment x
lol thank you, he was going nicely that day, I’m very proud of what we’ve done together.
I’ve had a couple of advanced dressage riders have a go on him, and they found it difficult to make him bend and work on the bit, so I suppose he is quite hard :p lol and no, I think I was just saluting, but my sister doesn’t have a very steady hand. lol thanks for the kind comment
x
this is my new account! (xjxuxsxtxmxex) On the background of my channel page, you can see a pic of me cuddling my gorgeous pony im getting! tell me what you think!
xx
update: I mucked it up on the day – I’m such a novice. Going back again April 18th and this time I will do him justice :p x
Wow! you two are looking awsome! It must be hard to be doing this on a heavier horse and you are making it look easy. Maybe it would be easier doing sitting trot so you can push him more forward through your seat? It always works with Tux
hehe, you should post some videos of you and tux doing flat work :p bet he’s amazing. it is hard, but I haven’t got any experiance with lighter horses, so I don’t know what as easy horse is like. lol. I do tend to ride without stirrups usually, as it is much easier! that’s also why my rising trot is so bad. lol thanks for the comment x
For anyone who’s interested… update 2: On sunday we went to the same riding club dressage competition and entered both the prelim classes, prelim 4 and prelim 14. There were about 20 people in each class, ranging from children on ponies to seasoned older people on their warmbloods and throughbreds… We came 4th in both classes!
Clever dressage cob! x
Georgous horse/pony, he looks really good when hes bended and has imoulsion. At the start i didnt see any imoulsion but when you swapped your whip around you got it. Watch the ideo and youl see what i mean if your unsure, his hindlegs work harder and steo under more but he dosnt get anywhere any faster, it makes them more exciting to watch and allows the correct way of training.
Also watch the bending, alwasy to the inside of the arena in canter. Try at home pushing him out with your leg/whip, Will make a superb test
What breed is he and how big?
thanks for the advice :p I know what impulsion is, but it’s harder to make him do it than it looks. lol. that bit after I swapped the whip he was actually trying to run into canter, rather than him doing it cos I told him to use himself, but he’s much better alround when I don’t have stirrups, he has much more impulsion because I can wrap my legs round him. I know my bending isn’t good, but it is something I’m working on in walk, and going onto -
in trot and canter. my friend who also has a cob has been giving me tips, but when she had a go on him she realised how hard he is to bend around your leg. lol. and thank you for your kind comments, it’s really nice to hear
he’s connemara X irish draught/welsh cb cross, he’s 7 years old and he’s 15 hands. milly xxx
lol you know what I mean then :p and thanks! x
Great vid!!
He looks beautiful! you 2 will only get better and better!!!!
hehe thanks and hopefully
might put another dressage vid up soon, we were asked to go to an area qualifier at towerlands for saffron walden riding club and if we qualify we’re going to the nationals!
Watch the kicking. Over here in America, you can get knocked from first place to no place at all if you keep kicking your horse to change gaits.
lol No worries on the videography. My mom was videotaping one of my classes in a horseshow (uh-oh, bug mistake there), and you got, at most, 15 seconds of me, and 10 minutes of the metal bleecher…
lol yeah I know the feeling I have to edit soooo many of these videos so you don’t have to watch the ground for like 10 minutes. lol and yeah we’ve got much better recently but I agree the kicking isn’t nice, or very effective (I don’t think he ever felt it :p) lol. thanks for the comment x
You need to ride more with your bottom and your inside calves rather than your hands and heels.
Keep your legs and hands still. Look up. Ride on the outside rein, not on the inside rein. Try to work less with your upper body in canter. When you do rising trot, try to focus on the sitting down rahtern than on the rising. Otherwise you stand up too much and you’re not with the horses movement anymore.
Thanks for the tips, I know there’s a hell of a lot to work on, but I’m teaching myself on the most part so it’s difficult. I’ll think about what you’ve said.
x
I just love your pony!!!!
Great riding! Lovely round circles by the way! Oh, and nice transitions too!
hey! gud riding, though u probs cant help this but wen u change ur whip over it luks a bit messy (no affence)
Nicely ridden you two look beautifull.
Hi! I know what its like riding a HW cob- its difficult to use “invisible” aids when theyre so wide! And they run out of steam so quickly lol;) Thought he was quite responsive in trot to canter transition- Try some halt to trot and as many other transitions and rein changes to get his trot more active and to keep him alert! Give away your inside rein a lot too (keeping inside leg on and outside rein contact)so he learns to balance himself- You make a great team! Well done!
hiya he’s hard work eh?..beautiful tho. my boy is a lazy bugger up back end and tries to get to hold him up.when practice at home and he’s hangin on u just giv him his head, just drop your reins when he bends the wrong way (only a bit) and he’ll soon learn he has to hold himself up .. lots more inside leg but no flapping ang won’t be long till u can do it wivjust your leg once he’s got the impulsion his head will drop withou hand anyway .. get the beautiful bugger movin..fab couple
