How Big of a Horse Should I Get?

I do dressage and am wondering how big of a horse should I get. I am 13 and am just under 5`5. I doubt I am going to grow annymore.
Also, my legs are an average length

For your height, I’d go for a horse from 15-16.2 hands. But, more importantly, is the horse’s weight. If you do light riding (trail riding, pleasure, equitation, showmanship, dressage) your weight plus that of the saddle shouldn’t make up more than 30% of the horses body weight. If you do heavy riding (jumping, gaming, possible reining or cutting depending on your horses confirmation), your weight plus that of the saddle shouldn’t be more than 20% of the horses body weight.

It depends on how long your legs are

I’d say 15.3-16 hh, but its also about personal preference on how comfortable you are on larger horses.

They have step stools so you can get on a horse even if it is too tall for you, just pick out your fav. horse and be happy.

Typically, Dressage horses are larger horses (16hh) but, you also want a horse your comfortable with. My best friend had a 17hh clydesdale cross when me and her were 10, and she was very uncomfortable with that horse. She especially hated having to step on a step stool to even see the horse’s back! I’d say a 15hh horse, maybe 15.3 hh.

I’d say anything over 14.2hh. If you do really competetive dressage (we’re talking high level), most warmblood-y dressage types are larger, more in the 16h range. If you are just doing local dressage shows, then you are fine getting anything over 14.1h or 14.2h.
