How Can I Fix My Riding Position?

I used to have a really good seat but i recently had a bad fall and got hurt. Now that i am riding again my trainer says that my seat has changed, for the worst. I am fine in the canter but in the trot I am sitting too far back on my tailbone rather than my seat bones. I am not aware that i am doing it so how can i fix it?
I am an intermediate rider, i can jump, do basic dressage and ride bareback walk, trot, canter and small jumps. ( this being before my injury)

Often after a fall, your body gets out of alignment, and what now feels straight is not. I am not suggesting you go the the chiropractor (as an Occupational Therapist, I don’t really agree with what they do) however, I do have a suggestion to help you do some really simple, usually comfortable, and very, very helpful stretches to re balance your pelvis and thoracic area. I do this often for folks around my area, both as a riding instructor and as a therapist.

"The Miracle Ball Method" by Elaine Petrone. I get them from Amazon for under $15, and they are wonderful! There is a little book that comes with it, and all you do is lay on the floor with these balls under various areas of your body and relax and breathe. It takes 10-50 minutes, you might do if a few days in a row, and you will be hooked. While you are ordering your set of miracle balls, you may as well get some for your instructor too, because she will want them.

Elaine was a New York dancer who had a sciatic nerve issue, and she could not find relief from anybody, so she, along with a palliates person and a couple of others came up with this method. It is gentle, feels good, and at worst, it will do nothing. At best, you’ll ride like a queen again!

Once your pelvis and thoracic spine are balanced again, your seat should improve, and your ease in the saddle return.

idk how strict ur lessons are (like clothing wise) but try wearing jeans (or just imagine ur wearing jeans) and sit on the back pockets.

and make sure ur sitting up tall and keeping ur heels all the way down cuz that affects ur seat too

riding bareback will get you back to how you use to ride if not better. it fixes your position because bareback if you have bad position you can feel it and it dosent feel good. and you can feel the horse more so you are in tune with him/her. I rode bareback for 2 years because I didn’t have a saddle. and trust me I have been told my seat is one of the best. I still ride bareback I perfer it much more than a saddle I feel more intune with my horse.
