How Do I Re-Teach My Horse to Lope?
My horse has got the slow walk and jog but needs to be re-taught how to lope. I just recently got into western pleasure after riding dressage and hunters so I need some advice. She has been showin western pleasure in the past but hasn’t been ridden properly in a bit so she needs a tune up on her lope.
What I suggest is every time you ask for the lope only let her lope several strides and bring her back. After a while she will anticipate an slow thinking you want to jog. She won’t take long to get back to loping with a nice neck line and loose rein.
