If You Could Ride a Horse Trained In…?

If you could ride a horse that is well trained in any discipline, which discipline would you choose??

I would like to ride either a reiner, cutter, or gp dressage horse.
Horselover-
you are soooo lucky!!
And I mean just once, to try it, not all the time.

    A reiner!

I just rode one for the first time on Wednesday. It was amazing.

Well, I am half leasing a Grand Prix dressage horse right now, and it is awesome. We did one tempis in my last lesson, and it was awesome! Of course, the horse knows way more than I do, so he pretty much took charge and decided to teach them to me. I’ve learned so much and gotten to ride so many amazing movements. I highly recommend it. That horse and I dance…

Edit- Charm, I live in Cincinnati. You could drive over here and take some lessons on him. Indiana is not that far…

Dressage. I’ve never ridden a really really top notch dressage horse, and unless I manage to remarry some super rich guy, I probably never will. They don’t exactly grow on trees in Indiana, lol. (rich guys OR top dressage horses! :P ).

There is something really amazing about watching such horses when they move. It makes me wish I could just once have the chance to ride the best of the best in that discipline. Hmph… I probably wouldn’t even be able to make one walk on the bit! lol.

Edit: Sends HATE toward Horse Lover!!! (just kidding. I think that is totally cool for you, Horselover!)

I’d love to ride a top level Dressage Horse.
Riding a horse that is trained to a high standard in any discipline teaches you so much!!

It shows you how things SHOULD feel, and you notice things you need to work on with your horse.

I like riding underschooled horses too, it reminds me how lucky I am. :) plus a challenge is good.

I have already been fortunate enough to be able to ride a very well trained reining horse. It is amazing how much I have to learn, the horse knows way more then I do. I would really like to try dressage so I suppose that a well trained dressage horse would be fun to learn on.

Jumping. It’s an awesome sport, and it gives a great rush. It’s always fun, and if I had to I would go for the jumper. There’s that great speed leading up to the poles, then the flight. It’s very fun, and I wish I could do it all the time!

Jumping. I love jumping, horses, dirt bikes, quads. I like it on horses a lot more then anything though. I love horses a lot though, I’m like obsessed with them.

GP or PSG Dressage horse. If they can do a Passage, Piaffe, or Pirouette, extended trot, extended canter, extended walk, etc, I’d love to.

Thats the only dicipline. thats it.

Dressage definitely, it’s always been my passion. I’d love to ride a GP school master sometime. It seems super fun.

An awesome dressage horse! I have always dreamed of winning the world cup in dressage, I doubt it will ever happen though…:( Anyway, I would choose dressage. It is AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!

I would love to ride a well trained hunter. I have never ridden a nice, winning hunter before. I want one so bad!!

I also would loovvee to ride a nice barrel horse. I’ve done barrels with my gelding before but he’s nothing like a barrel horse that was professionally trained. he’s still confused when we get to the barrels =p

I’d probably choose a top notch reiner. I showed IHSA reining for two years, but most IHSA horses are far from fancy show horses (stopping seemed to be optional, spinning was definitely nonexistent…). At one show, though, someone had loaned a horse to the school–so it was privately owned, not a school horse–for the show. It was a fully trained and pretty nice reiner. It was a thrill. I love showing my WP/HUS horse, but I think I could easily be hooked on reining if I had the money to show both (at a high level–riding a not-so-great reiner wouldn’t be any more fun than riding any other average horse).

I think cutting would also be fun to try–I’ve heard it’s addicting! I’ve never tried it, though.

For some reason, riding GP dressage just doesn’t excite me as much. Maybe because I have more personal experience with dressage (though certainly not GP level!) as I did it for several years in high school before I started doing AQHA and WP/all-around stuff (with a new horse)–it was never my favorite sport. But I do think it’s beautiful to watch a well-trained dressage horse and it takes a ton of talent to do it well (as with any discipline).

Of all disciplines, that’s a hard one! Again, I would love to be able to show a reiner. I love riding WP, but I already own a WP horse. I like doing jumpers on my old horse, but I’m really not that interested in doing it on any other horse–and I haven’t done much of it over the last few years. I’ve ridden saddleseat (on a padded World Grand Champ TWH–that was an exhilarating ride!) once and always wanted to show in the English Pleasure at the Arabian shows (I did the Hunter Pleasure for awhile). I think it would be fun to take a few SS lessons just for the heck of it.

I’d lovelovelove to ride a really nice, high-stepping Country/Saddle-Seat horse. I LOVE the way they move and I have heard that riding one is super smooth. I want to see how it feels. I ride a sport horse/ hunter Arabian…I always see the high-stepping horses at the AHA shows and envy them. I love to go watch them. I just want to ride one just ONCE. Ahh soo cool.(:

I’d like to take a GP jumper or cross country horse for a spin. Over obsticales appropriate for their level of course ;)

prob cross country. i think its the funnest. you get speed and jumps, love it. also top level dressage seems cool. for now though im thinking for my horse probably endurance and pony club. then probably somewhere along the track we’ll aim for more disciplines like jumoing and then cross country.

    Reining!
    Definitely.

I trained my horses to spin and stop similar to reining horses, but without the reining shoes and breeding and conformation that reining horses need it’s just not the same. I’d LOVE to be able to ride a NRHA money winning reiner! My best friend actually bought her horse from, and keeps her at an Arabian Reining barn and they have some amazing Reining Arabians and Quarter Horses (they specialize in half-arabians). I haven’t gotten to ride any, though.

I’d also love to ride a 1D, consistent, automatic, well trained barrel horse. (:

Dressage! I want to be able to ride a piaffe SO badly…… and do tempi changes, etc.

But as Charm said… they don’t grow on tree’s here in Indiana!! Hmph…… there’s nothing but corn here.

    Park or Country English Pleasure.

    Specifically an Arab park horse.
There’s just nothing like a good park horse to me. Something that powers around the ring and know’s it’s there to show off. A great park horse is truly dazzling.

I already have a Grand Prix dressage horse, so I couldn’t wish to ride one (unless I can ride Ravel hahaha!). I think it would be cool to try to ride a reining horse since I do dressage.
