Is This a Good Build for a Dressage or Eventing Horse?
Ok, we are fostering this 4 year old thoroughbred filly for a rescue. She has 30 days western training, but I think she would make a good dressage or eventing horse. She is built slighlty uphill and is about 15.3-16.1 hands high, So i’ll guess she’s 16 hands. Is that a good build for eventing or dressage? I’m going to get pics of her today and ask about her conformation. Thanks!

She’s really young so she’ll probably grow more. When horses grow they may be really downhill and then even out, or the other way around, you’ll just have to wait and see.
A good eventer or dressage horse will be uphill with a good shoulder (not too upright, it should be long and sloping) and deep girth (to allow full expansion of the lungs). They should have good legs- not too long or upright pasterns, they shouldn’t be over or under at the knee, and shouldn’t be severely cow hocked. The horse should have a good croup and a not-too-long back.
