KFPS Friesian Stallion Brend 413 – Dressage 2008

Today the news broke that Brend 413 (Brandus x Doeke x Tjimme) is coming to Iron Spring Farm in America. These are nice bloodlines to have here and Brend, who is really excelling at dressage is going to a nice home. Iron Spring competes their Friesian stallions heavily and successfully in dressage. This is good for the breed. This video is from the stallion show in Leeuwarden in 2008. I am so glad I happened to have it on tape. I believe here Brend is at level ZZ licht. I admit, I am too ignorant in dressage to know what that translates to in the American system, but I think it is pretty good!

He is not PSG or GP, he can’t even do a flying change. He probably has such a nice canter for a Friesian because it hasn’t been messed up by over collecting yet.

I got mixed up because he has on a double bridle which i found out is optional 3rd and 4th (not allowed before 3rd) and mandatory in PSG and GP so either they arnt following rules, he really is a higher level and just being ridden at this level or my information ins incorrect! and There are flying changes at 3:55 at 4:17 and …5:13…so it seems like he can do them after all! My point is that he as a horse looks high level, that could only be apperance and potental but hes beautiful regardless

Wow, his canter is so light and free, especially for a friesian. Skaterhorse is being dense, because I saw at least 2 flying changes.

This is interdiaire level there is piaffe or passage involved. You ride in a Double bridle from Elemtary Level and you can also ride a Snaffle Bridle upto GrandPrix now!

horsebelover: licht does NOT mean lift :) It means light… Zwaar means heavy
ZZ licht is therefore ZZ light :)

    Well
I have an off spring by him, Tyrannimus von Therkelsen, and he is turning out very well, he is a 3 year old gelding and he is really well behaved, and he has shown som really interesting talent for dressage.
    best regards
    Jannie

hmm i see where you say he is lazy behind, perhaps that is why he lead changes are so sloppy? but i dont think his canter is choppy, definitely not the best moving friesian i have seen but not choppy.
