I think like dragonheart. Its a nice horse but he’s not being judge correct. Also the front leg is not in the same hight and stretched like the back legs.

In the passage his right hind has consistently and visibly more suspension than right hind leg. It might be the way the horse compensates for a lack of balance, but than … at the end … he immediately rests his right hind in a painful stance. This horse has shown signs of lameness during the walk last year, and it looks like it is getting worse. My bet this horse will not be in the show ring much longer.

Honestly this horse is too young to be doing high level Dressage. It is really sad how Dressage has gone down hill these days. Horses are trained too fast and not in the right way. This horse should have never even placed much less won. Nothing about this ride is Classical Dressage. I feel so sorry for the poor horse. I can even tell he is not enjoying his ride and in pain at the end the way he rested on his right hind:(

I completely agree. I thought FEI was through with “flashy” movements that did not incorporate a horse’s hind-end. I am truly sad at the lack of Classical judges at this level. I was sure that after banning the use of Rollkur at FEI events there would be some changes for the better, but I guess that was wishful thinking. It’s all still about politics.

Unfortunately yes politics. For people like me that take the time to build muscle and time to train the classical way would never place.

Totilas has absolutely NO overstep in the extended trot. It is like watching a circus horse perform!

@rashirkey Yes totally agreed. He’s all front leg action but doesn’t even overtrack. Why does that get super high marks? I bet if Ed let him out so he could REALLY extend, it would take him half the arena to get him ‘back’ again :) He does have fabulous passage/piaffe/pirouettes though!

@ezire Do you mean, more visible lifting of the left hind and less of the right hind? I hope he doesn’t break down but I agree, it looks like he needs a spell in the pasture for 6 weeks.

Totilas has an obvious problem with his right hind. The leg gets stiffer as the routine progresses and he’s obviously favoring it at the end. You can see him favoring it in the pirouette. Why is he competing with this problem? And where are the judges’ eyes? A beautiful horse, obviously talented….but perhaps pushed too hard?

@Eightdb This could be one of the reasons why he was sold perhaps?

@Eightdb I watched his legs closely, especially in the pirouette…he was not favoring it at all. I’m not sure what you saw but I’ve been around horses for most of myself and that ride was near perfection.
