    I totally agree with TBsPlease! I hate modern dressage. any one who agrees with me should check out Erick Herbermanns book Dressage Formula. Ive met Erick and he is amazing! or go to my trainers website winnoweo.com. They teach the same stuff as the spanish riding school

    @TBsPlease
    If the judges give medals to….in rollkür, it’s because people like to watch this.
    It’s the only explaination I find..
    There is I think a lack in people’s mind today, say a gap between them and natural things ..animals here. So the average person can’t even SEE when an animal says “it hurts”, “I find no pleasure in what I am doing”, this is not my natural attitude”, and so on.
    This, stating that suffering in not considered beautiful by the normal human with a normal brain.

    now THIS is classical dressage, rooted in correct, beautiful, effective riding, not all that german-rolkur crap that we see today in the bullshit world of dressage.

    this is absolutely breathtaking!!!

    Classical dressage. Stunning, amazing, well paced, elegant, and correct style. This is REAL dressage. You dont see any pulling on the mouth with the pelham bits.

    Years of dedication and hard work come down to this amazing display of a horses grace.

    @TBsPlease
    And not to mention no warmblods that cost a million bajillion dolllars cos they have nice paces, and then break when theyre half way through their career. I hate how biased dressage has become today, that the horse has to look a certain way etc. I get downgradeded when i ride my difficult programmes because when my mare (Akhal teke-shes very narrow) cant see when shes doing something right FOR HER (shoulder in, for example). I love dressage, and this is dressage at its best.

    See how loose their reins are, these horses carry themselves! This is how dressage is supposed to be.

    the only thing i don’t like is the slow canter… it looks like they have joint problems :/ and some times they are doing 4 beat canters?
    and some of the horses weren’t rythmic in the passage…
    but they’re so beautiful… :)

    i wonder if they get to gallop around paddocks like every other horses.
    or if they’re ever ridden with a loose rein and if they get to go ‘long and low’?

    @sabinamichalkowski they do get turn out and can be seen at stud in Piber. They are of course worked on a long rein, during warm up and training, but rarely mid performance, unsurprisingly. “long and low” is a commonly misinterpreted notion, exagerated by some modern dressage fanatics, but the true longer, lower frame is adopted by classically trained horses, such as these, during extension etc.

    @TBsPlease While I have to agree it was beautiful-no dressage rider(or other associated person) would say so otherwise- I will admit I’m fond of ‘modern’ dressage.
    Anky and Isabelle will be thought of fonding in my mind and my familys seeing as two of our foals gained them as thier name sakes-Anky and Izzy. There is a big difference between classical dressage and what most people see when they watch at dressage days/shows. Fact-not everyone can ride like this-though it’d be nice- not happening

    @ponyfinalsdreamer97 Why does it have to be REAL Dressage. It is CLASSICAL(caps in place of italics) dressage true, and wonderful to watch. But I know many people who’ve spent years working with their animals who look just as stunning as these. Shame that apparently they’ve wasted their time on some sort of ‘FAKE’ dressage. It’s All Dressage, styles differ-get over and learn to appreciate the different types.

    It’s honestly insane all these people outraged by the horrors of modern dressage.
    I think these horses are beautiful and the riders and animals are far more skilled then I’ll ever be-willing admiting this.
    I’ve been around modern dressage or what seems to be ‘fake’ dressage apparently and this apparent horror fest I’ve witnessed is missing.

    The Lipizzaners are amazing. the riders are amazing. Why don’t you focus on that and pull the stick out of your ass and enjoy it like the rest of us

    @stagingatrafficjam
    A “normal walk with an over reach” is a very nice thing to ride. It is called a “running walk” in some circles and “tracking up” in others. If you ever ride one you will have a great smile when you are done.

  22. stagingatrafficjam
    November 12th, 2011 at 23:14 | #22

    @gmwwc a running walk is a specific gait, completely different than a normal walk. also, tracking up is defined as the horse’s hind hoof fitting perfectly into the hoofprint of the front hoof, meaning there is absolutely no overreach, which is exactly what i said about a normal walk.
