Dressage is just "basic riding" taking to a higher degree. The lower levels start with circles, transitions, diagonals, etc that are basic training for most riding horses. A good instructor can help transition you into a "dressage frame". The US Dressage Federation (USDF) website has listings of instructors around the US. If you cannot afford lessons or training, there are many many many books on dressage. I would suggest going to your local tack store to see what they have. They may also be able to point you in the direction of some local trainers or barns that could help you out. If you cannot afford books right now, the USDF website can offer a start, as could the US Equestrian Federation (USEF) website.
